Have you considered shampooing your carpets?
When you have had your carpets installed for a few years then you will notice they start to look old and the colors dull down, that is usually because they are getting grubby after people walk on them in dirty shoes and your dog sheds on them, or you spill food on them etc. This starts to become unhygienic after awhile and you certainly wouldn’t want to let kids play around on them, the only real solution is to have your carpets shampooed, or replace them which is usually more expensive.
If you decide to shampoo them then you have two choices, you can pay to have someone do it professionally, or you can do it yourself. An outside company will move all your furniture for you and both shampoo and dry the carpets as well, but you are going to pay a lot for the privilege. The other root is to buy yourself a machine like the Hoover F5914-900 which comes in at around 130 dollars, and then you can shampoo your carpets as often as you like, but you have to do all the hard work.
Whichever route you take, make sure you dry your carpets out properly or you risk getting mold growing which will ruin them. So extract all the shampoo and water out of the carpets using the appropriate function on your machine (pretty much all of them should have that) then leave the room with some fans in and the windows open until you are sure that the carpet is dry, then you can put the furniture back where it was. It might be a lot of work, but the end result will be well worth it.
