Why Starvation Diets Don’t Work

Finding a diet that actually works is easier said than done as not one thing works for everybody and there are some things to be wary of which we will cover today.

The problem is that a lot of people see that to lose weight they need to crate a calorie deficit and in order to do this they understand that they need to burn off more calories than they consume but people tend to take this to the extreme and do things like skipping meals which is never a good idea. The reason skipping meals is not a good idea is because if you are consistently doing this your body will go into starvation mode and when this happens it then clings on to the fat that is in the body as it knows it is going to need fuel for the future and this is what it is going to use, and eventually you get really hungry and you end out going back to normal eating and the body has not used any of that fat up – so you are no further forward than you were before.

Also another meal that people tend to skip is breakfast. This is probably the biggest no no of them all. The reason I say this is because when you are asleep, your metabolism is resting and it does not start working again until you ear something, so having breakfast is your way to kick start your metabolism first thing in the morning and have you burning fuel all day long.

So what can you do to create a calorie deficit? The key here is in the phrase burn more than you consume. Now this does not have to mean long hours in the gym, it simply means doing simple things like walking further instead of using the car – taking the stairs instead of the elevator – in short just get your body moving and you will have taken your first steps to creating a calorie deficit.

If you do want to engage in physical activity though make sure you consult with your physician before taking any weight loss or exercise routine.
