Bathroom, Garage and Kitchen Windows: Functional Guidelines For Transforming Your Homes Central Areas

Posted by Sarah on Feb 23, 2009 in Fine Articles

Remodeling your house is a viable alternativeto purchasing a new home and then packing up your stuff. However, remodeling is not always cheaper; simple organization mistakes or a bad contractor can lead to disastrous financial and emotional results. Proper organization and in-depth research are your best weapons to avoid the common pitfalls of a typical home remodel. Be sure to use them!

Your garage, your bathroom, your kitchen are good places to start your home remodeling endeavor.  However, before you begin construction, you must ask yourself quite a few questions. The most important question pertains to money: how much can you really afford to spend? When considering a remodel, you should be financially realistic. Unless you take great care when accepting bids from contractors, your total cost will most likely run 20% to 30% higher than expected. While you have countless possibilities for your home remodel, this article will discuss only three different rooms: the kitchen, the bathroom, and the garage.

There are countless possibilities for your home remodel, this article is going to focus on the remodeling of the most important rooms: your bathroom, kitchen and your garage. For most people, the bathroom is their own private sanctuary. Where else can you escape from the world and stand under a hot shower or relax in a soothing bubble bath? When planning your bathroom remodel, you need to consider where you naturally spend most of your time: looking in the mirror or soaking up the suds. The answer to that question is where you should focus your design ideas. Did you know there are such things as heated flooring and towel warming racks? And every contractor will recommend that you invest a little extra money and buy top of the line fixtures. By investing more cash on the extra bells and whistles can easily transform your everyday bathroom into an at-home spa.

It has been said that over 50% of home owners do not park their car in their garage. Instead of a place to park a car, their garage has become one big storage unit. Have you become one of those people? If so, you should consider remodeling your garage. A remodeled garage can actually increase your storage space, expand the “usable” square footage of your home, or even allow you to park your car inside it.

Outside of gaining extra storage space, a garage can be transformed into an elaborate work room, a laundry room, a home gym, or even into extra living space such as a spare bedroom or play room for the kids. If you want to transform your garage into extra living space, you need to factor in the additional construction costs for heating, cooling, and electrical. And if you would like to add a bathroom or some other form of water supply, you will need to factor in plumbing costs which can be quite expensive.

A kitchen remodel is the most complicated (and usually the most costly) home remodel project you can begin. It is a huge undertaking; don’t take it lightly. It is highly advisable to hire a qualified contractor than to try and tackle your own kitchen remodel. If you request bids from several contractors – which would be a good idea, your scope of work should be extremely specific regarding the many materials that are to be used for the project (detailed proposals allow you to accurately compare estimates). Not too mention, if you aren’t specific in regards to materials, there is a strong chance you will get materials either inferior or too expensive than what you wanted in the first place.

Designing your future kitchen is the most important phase of your kitchen remodel. Every aspect of your design should meet with your approval before you begin construction. You really must consider the down time you will experience; how long can you handle not having a kitchen? The more in-depth your remodel, the longer you can expect to be without a working kitchen.

Create the perfect decor after your remodel is done with kitchen window treatments. Find great looking kitchen window treatment sets for all the windows. Easy kitchen window treatments  to create the perfect kitchen.

Outside of hiring an experienced, licensed contractor for your project, it is probably a good idea to hire an independent consultant that can oversee your contractor’s quality of work and overall job progress. Most people couldn’t tell the difference between ductile iron piping and black steel piping, but an independent consultant certainly can. He or she can spot any shortcuts that your contractor or subcontractors may attempt to take.

Your family’s happiness and livelihood are closely tied to your home. Take care in your overall preparation for and planning for your project and your remodeling experience will most likely be a successful one.

MAC containers ensuring you can have thespace to thrive.

Posted by Sarah on Feb 23, 2009 in Fine Articles

MAC containers are used all over the planet to hold goods in, create office space, smoking shelters, shower rooms and toilets and because they can be used like Lego have been used for some fantastically creative housing alternatives. Amazing how technology powers in the changes as there seems to be no stops to the uses for these amazingly secure containers that are also free of condensation making them a place that people have used to store antiques as well as gorgeous sports cars.

I recently drove by the Southampton docks and saw massive vessels stacked to the skies with MAC containers it was an amazing site to be seen, knowing that you can easily fit the complete contents of a 4 bedroom house in one of these containers just makes a place like that even more awe inspiring. The huge crane down by the docks lifting these huge containers through the skies as if they don’t weigh anything is a real eye opener.

Having worked in the building trade for a while you often see MAC containers being used as office space and as secure stores. Because the hinges are on the inside of a MAC container they are thief and vandal proof which is why it has made them an obvious choice for the building trades. On site they are normally filled with a large assortment of tools that are secured away at night, but on really bad weather days you often find them filled with builders attempting to get out of the weather (and sometime work!).

Where as you used to have these terrible Porta cabins at school which had a tendency to leak and were generally uncomfortable, MAC containers enable you to have a dry, condensation free, heated space with windows and good lighting allowing you to broaden the space that a given school has available to it. This can make a significant difference as planning permission is frequently hard to come by and the planning office may be more lenient with a structure that can be easily removed at a later date or when enough funding has been raised to extend the existing building. The other thing is with 190 colours to choose from you know you will find something that will be able to fade into the scenery.

For me as the price of a MAC container isn’t that much I purchased one for my property as It provided me with a space to work on my cars without the worry of someone trying to break in. It also ensured I had a dry space that was simple to heat (I know but as the heating option was there it seemed daft not to take it) and ensured I could get on with complete strip downs and services without freezing outside.

Remove credit card debt pain

Posted by Sarah on Feb 23, 2009 in Fine Articles

There are many ways to get rid of the pain of credit card debt. This is one thing that most experts agree on; Consolidation Loans.

This is combining all the debt into one payment. This has its pros and cons:

Pros;
1. Allows one simple payment
2. Can allow you to pay the same amount, while actually paying off more of the loan.
3. Can reduce interest quickly
4. Allows you to set up one automatic payment and “set and forget” it.

Cons:

1. Can create a false sense of security having only one payment
2. Allows you the bad option of getting more cards after you have set the process up.
3. Takes away some of the pain without actually taking away the debt

If you are already having a difficult time paying your bills you don’t want to make things worse by missing payments, and getting increased payment penalties

You also will have less stress about, because instead of making multiple payments each month, you will only be making one payment.

It is possible to find a lender that will be willing to give you a debt consolidation loan, even if your credit rating has been effected, provided you can show that you have regular income to maintain the payments on the loan.

Each lender has there own criteria for debt consolidation loan approvals, so it varies widely. Always look for any “balloon payments” or increased payments over time.  You are looking for set payments, over a long term, plus the option of making extra payments to pay it off faster, if you can.

Pregnancy Yeast Infection

Posted by Sarah on Feb 23, 2009 in Uncategorized

A yeast infection is not an early sign of pregnancy, and the existance of the condition cannot cause a pregnancy test to be erroneously positive either. Usually, only pregnancy causes positive test results. A pregnancy yeast infection can be caused by being pregnant (or other hormonal changes) though.

Is Pregnancy Possible with a Yeast Infection?

Yeast infections cannot harm your chances of getting pregnant. There are some people that say if you have the infection for a long period of time without it being treated it can cause problems, but this is extremely rare and highly unlikely.

Is It Common During Pregnancy for a Yeast Infection?

It is said that 20% of woman will get a pregnancy yeast infection because of increase in hormones and bacteria.

It is generally not harmful to an unborn baby but should be treated more carefully, so you won’t pass the infection to your baby during the birth. Left untreated, the baby could develop the yeast infection in the form of thrush in the mouth. This is not dangerous to the baby and is easily treated should it occur.

What Are The Symptoms?

The symptoms of a pregnancy yeast infection generally build up over 1 to 3 days, and include an intense vaginal itch, irritation, soreness, burning and redness in the vagina, and a thick, white vaginal discharge. If you have any or all of these symptoms, it is advisable to seek further advice and guidance from your local physician. Don’t leave it unchecked.

How Do You Treat a Pregnancy Yeast Infection?

Yeast infections may be harder to control when you’re pregnant. They may require frequent treatment or longer treatment (10 to 14 days instead of 3 to 7 days).

Vaginal creams or suppositories used for treatment are safe during pregnancy, although most physicians recommend avoiding treatment during the first trimester. If you develop a yeast infection, it is safe for you to use over-the-counter products, such as Monistat. However, if you are early in your pregnancy (i.e. before 12 weeks), use the cream externally only. After 12 weeks, it is safe to gently use the applicator internally.

If you don’t have success with over-the-counter medication, you may want to try Boric acid, which is very mild. It won’t harm you but will alter the vaginas pH level slightly discouraging yeast growth. Probiotics are also useful in combating pregnancy yeast infections since they build up your healthy bacteria.
